Head Start (0-5) Locations
CENTER BASED
Head Start (o-5) Center Based is an early care and education program that is delivered in a classroom setting. Community Action Partnership of Mid Nebraska serves Infants: from 6 weeks – 18 months, Toddlers: 18 months – 3 years and Pre-School: 3 years – 5 years. In Head Start the centers may be licensed with the State Dept. of Health and Human Services child care licensing.
The curriculum used in the center based program is High Scope. The curriculum is augmented by the Child Observation Record (COR) which provides data on children’s progress.
HOME BASED
Head Start Home Based supports parents in educating and nurturing their children. Home Based services provide parents/guardians opportunities to move toward self-sufficiency while using their home as the learning environment.
Head Start Home Based helps parents better understand their child’s stages of development with individualized visits to their home utilizing the Hawaii Early Learning Profile (HELP) curriculum. The weekly visits are 1 1/2 hours in length and are designed to meet the needs of families. Parents are assisted with planning activities that encourage each child’s growth and development.
Social activities, called Group Socializations, are held twice monthly to provide the opportunity for parents to interact with their child and other families.
